The Athi Water Services Board of Kenya with financial and technical assistance from the French government successfully rehabilitated Sasumua Dam.
The rehabilitation programme which covered Sasumua Dam and its water treatment plant that serves the capital city Nairobi, at a cost of 62 million euros, repaired the damaged spillway that was damaged in 2003 during the El Nino rains. |

AWSB has embarked on a massive rainwater harvesting campaign in Nairobi, Thika, Kiambu, Limuru and Gatundu. The rainwater harvesting campaign is targeting
institutions and individuals who own premises that can be used to effectively harvest water to supplement what is received in the household/institution. Towards this
campaign, AWSB has distributed 900 tanks and also helped in the guttering process. Other institutions to be recipient of the remaining tanks are being evaluated and
the successful ones will receive the tanks. |
